During the current international break Latics captain Emmerson Boyce is out in the Caribbean representing and skippering Barbados in the Caribbean Cup. During the tournament Boycey managed to grab his first international goal and help his country qualify for the next round.
The Caribbean Cup is played in a number of group stages and during this particular one Barbados were pitched against Bonaire, Martinique and Suriname, having drawn their opening game with Suriname 1-1, Barbados played group favourites Martinique and unluckily lost 3-2 in a controversial game. This left Boycey's men needing to win their last game against Bonaire on Sunday to be sure of qualification for the next stage, they did this with aplomb, a 4-1 victory with Boycey grabbing his first international goal.
Barbados will now progress through to the second round, set to take place between the 6th to the 13th October and they have been pitched in Group 8 with Haiti, Saint Kitts and Nevis and French Guiana, the games will all be played in Haiti.
Nice one Boycey and good luck in the next round.
